The Flirtini

I have a thing about drinks with fun names.  The name seems to set the mood for the drink.  

Drinks are a little like music.  They bring back memories of a particular location or night.  Kind of like reserving umbrella drinks such as Pina Coladas for vacation and lounging around the pool or on the beach.

So, here is the Flirtini.  The name makes me think about meeting new people.  Makes me smile.  I want to put on a flirty dress and have my sweet husband take me out on the town.

1/2 oz Orange Liqueur
1/2 oz Vodka
1 oz Pineapple Juice
3 oz Champagne

Add Orange Liqueur, Vodka, Pineapple Juice and stir over ice. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass and top with champagne. Garnish with a pineapple wedge and a cherry.

There are different types and price ranges for the orange liqueur, which will also affect the flavor of the drink.  This is one of those drinks that can truly be altered to your preference.  Try a blended juice or maybe flavored vodka.

This is also a nice and easy mockFlirtini.  Use orange juice in place of the orange liqueur and omit the vodka.  Add the pineapple juice and top with a lemon-lime soda or club soda.  I will play with this and come up with a good version.
