Dulce de Leche

Dulce de Leche

There is something about fruit (fresh or frozen) that pairs perfectly with sweet cream.  Think Strawberries and Cream, Raspberries and Cream, are you seeing what I'm seeing?

This Dulce de Leche is simple enough to enjoy with fruit and complex enough to add to cake recipes, cookies, or drizzle over a bundt cake.  I like to use this cream in place of canned sweet milk.

Ingredients:

1/2 Cup Milk
2 teaspoons Starch
2 Tablespoons Butter
1/4 Cup Powdered Sugar
1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract

In a sauce pan add milk and starch stirring until thickened.  Allow to cool.

You'll need to bowls, a larger one to place ice in and a smaller one to put on top of the ice.  In the smaller of the two bowls cream sugar and butter with a hand mixer and add the vanilla extract.  Spoon in cooled milk mixture.

Drizzle over fruit, cake, pancakes, or add to your favorite recipes to add some rich sweetness.
